Week 13 Using the Paint tool to edit images

Within the last few weeks, I have learned how to use the Paint tool to make edits to screen captures. This tool has proven itself to be effective in creating instructional handouts. It allows easy edits to be made that enhance features being explained. After taking a screen shot, and within the snipping tool, click on the paint tool icon to gain access to editing.

From here there are several options to choose from to make edits. The direction of the picture can be changed, unwanted edits can be erased, shapes/areas can be filled with color, text can be inserted on to image using a text box, and shapes can be used to enhance and draw attention to specific parts of the image. Though this is not all the paint tool can do these are some of the basic features.

As a professional this can be an exceptionally useful teaching tool. It can assist with training how to use a new platform, website, or other mediums. Having a visual how to makes learning and using a platform easier. When text or voice are used in conjunction with the edited images it reaches members in the audience who learn differently from each other. For first time teachers using this to teach how to use a communication database or input grades would cut down on the time spent researching how to use the database. It could be used with students to give instructions on completing an assignment. It also offers the ability to share with a large group at one time how to do something. When groups are distant from each other this provides for teaching to be widespread without the hassle of gathering employees into one place and reduces/ eliminates the need to teach one on one. Using the paint tool is quick and easy even for the most technology challenged individuals.

  1. Hi Alicia,
The pain tool is one of my favorites to use! I really enjoy how easy to use it is and how many options there are. The main tool I use on there is the arrow because I use it to point out what I want people to see! I really enjoyed your post and reflected well with it because I was able to fully understand what you were saying!

  2. I honestly think that the paint tool is underrated for all that it can do. I regularly use it for highlighting spots in my screen captures to help viewers focus on the details that I want them to. I'm also really impressed with the updates to paint in Windows 11 that allow the user to quickly remove the background in images. The new ability to be able to do layers in paint can also be super useful when adding things to an exciting image and you want to be able to quickly try different things without changing the original image. Have you tried using any of these new features?
